15 Things You Should Know About Coffee
Written by Amber on May 20, 2010 – 11:37 am -The Oatmeal has the most informative, most funny little piece about coffee… 15(ish) Things Worth Knowing About Coffee.

I knew a good deal of that already but I did NOT know that robusta (vs. arabica) has 50% more caffeine (I need to get me some of that!) and the visual descriptions of the different methods of serving coffee (espresso, cappuccino) were the best and easiest to understand that I have ever seen! I think next time I want to order a Breve. =)
And I also can’t help wondering if the berry around the coffee bean isn’t useful for SOMETHING? Seems like an awful waste just to strip it off to get to the bean. Strip it off and make jam out of it or something? Okay, rant over.
Now off you go. To The Oatmeal! Go! Now!
Are you still here?….

Tips for Brewing Coffee
Written by Amber on November 17, 2009 – 8:00 am -Courtesy of my bag of Cafe Ole Bavarian Hazelnut:
- Always use fresh, cold water.
- The ideal brewing time is 4-6 minutes.
- Once brewed, do not continue heating the coffee. The taste of coffee changes and can become bitter after 15 minutes on the burner.
- Once the bag is opened, store in a cool, dark place.
- Store in a freezer if you intend to keep longer than two weeks.
I guess it’s good to know that my Hamilton Beach Stay or Go Thermal Coffeemaker is working to preserve the taste of my coffee. =)

What Kind Of Coffee Is That?
Written by Amber on October 10, 2009 – 2:08 pm -Ever wondered what all those different coffee adjectives mean? Macchiato, breve, Americano - what?
This helpful article lays out the basic types in their traditional form. It gets tricky though, because different coffee shops may do things their own way. But if you go by these definitions, my favorite would be a latte or a cafe au lait. =)
