My Gevalia Order

Try Gevalia Coffee and Get a FREE Coffeemaker!

Well, I DID it! I finally placed the Gevalia order I’ve been talking about making. It’s been a long time since I’ve ordered their coffees and a long time since I have bought whole coffee beans so I was QUITE excited!

3 boxes, 3 bucks – who wouldn’t be?!

But would you BELIEVE I messed up my order? I was so focused on narrowing down 3 flavors that I neglected to select the BEANS option instead of the ground option. Oh yes, I did. I noticed it as soon as I got the email confirmation and I called to see if I could change the order before it went out.

Oh well, I suppose I’ll drink ground coffee this time. It is, after all, what I have been drinking for the past nine years or so. I’ll make sure I pay more attention on the next order!

None-the-less, I’m still excited. In 1-2 weeks I’ll receive their signature blend, Peruvian organic blend and the one I’m most anticipating…Dark Chocolate Truffle. MMMmmmmm. It was hard to choose: Dark Chocolate Truffle or Chocolate Raspberry, Peruvian Organic or Rainforest Organic?? So many decisions. I’ll have to take turns trying them all..

You can take advantage of Gevalia’s 3 for 3$, too – or any of their other current promotions:

A Cup A Day: Busy, Busy, Busy!

Written by Amber on November 4, 2009 – 1:48 pm -

Bundled up in my warm hoodie, drinking coffee, fighting off this head cold.

Bundled up in my warm hoodie, drinking coffee, fighting off this head cold.

My lack of “real” blogging lately (here or at Classic Housewife) is evidence of just how busy I have been the last couple of weeks! The last week of October I took the kids to my mom’s house, spent the weekend with them and then left the kids there. BOY THAT WAS NICE! While they were gone, I cleaned, cleaned, cleaned like a madwoman. Not just cleaning though, purging, reorganizing, rearranging… I spent a lot of time on it, and still have more that could be done. There’s always more.

My parents brought the kids back the day before Halloween and spent the weekend up here with us. And believe it or not, in just two more days I’ll be going back again!! Yes, it’s a four hour drive. But it’s my mom’s 50th birthday, and we’re going to go celebrate it with her. I have to figure out what to get for her. She loves coffee also, so perhaps something coffee related. Though I haven’t decided exactly what yet. I’ll keep thinking about it. (MOM ARE YOU READING THIS?)

I’ve also been working on my best friend’s website, getting the oldest daughter’s school curriculum software set up on the new laptop and fighting off a headcold through all of that– where’s the time to blog? Seems I have found time to Twitter though, as evidenced by the recent “Today on Twitter” posts. I finally got it all set up and working the way I want it to. Perfect for quick scanning and browsing of any interesting links I posted or retweeted throughout the day. Since my goal here is short and sweet (not doing so great at that on THIS post am I?) I think the Twitter posts will be a good additon. That is, if I can find the time to add in some “real” blog posts here and there, too. 😉 Now off you go, go grab another cup of coffee. You deserve it.

The Verdict: Folgers French Roast

Written by Amber on October 27, 2009 – 12:44 pm -

folgers_compliments_french_roastAbout a week or so ago, I lamented the lack of whole beans at my local grocery store and settled instead for Folgers French Roast ground coffee. As you know, I am not a coffee snob. I completely appreciate finely brewed coffee from fabulous beans.

I also drink Folgers.

Coffee is coffee.

So the verdict? I like it! I still want to get some beans so I can enjoy a finely brewed cup from some fabulous beans on occasion, but in the  meantime, this will do nicely. I like the full flavor, I like the bold taste. But notsostrong that I feel the need to mellow it out with extra milk. Very nice.

In the Pursuit of Beans

Written by Amber on October 16, 2009 – 12:36 pm -

I’m disappointed. Our local grocery stores in our small town do not carry whole bean coffee. Not any. Not even one. I ended up settling for Folgers French Roast. It was either Folgers, Maxwell House, store brand or Dunkin’ Donuts. It’ll do… as I said, I’m a coffee junkie not a coffee snob.

Still.

I remember back “then.” Back when I was a teenager and all my dad bought was whole beans and we ground it ourselves for each pot. I remember back in the early days of our marriage when I didn’t think about the costs of whole beans versus ground or this brand against that brand.

I believe my dad bought his beans, or at least the Kona, from a store at the mall. I’m not driving an hour for coffee beans. The last time I bought whole beans I believe I got them at Wal-Mart. Perhaps I will check there the next time I make it to Wal-mart. Whenever that will be.

Or perhaps I will go ahead and buy some online from Gevalia?…Online ordering is, after all, my favorite way to shop. =)

“The best part of waking up..”

But it's not Folgers that's in MY cup.

A Coffee Drinker in Training

Written by Amber on February 25, 2009 – 12:52 am -

Today my 8 year old treated me to a pot of coffee – made entirely by herself. She even served up a cup with cream and sugar. I could get used to this.
